Directed by Clint Eastwood, Gran Torino is the story of a racist, prejudiced and displeased Korean War veteran Walt Kowalski (Clint Eastwood), who refuses to adapt to the changes in his crime-ridden Michigan neighbourhood and the world around him. When his young Hmong neighbour, Thao (Bee Vang), tries to steal his most prized possession, the 1972 Gran Torino, his well-maintained semi-automatic rifle, which saved his life numerous times during the war, Walt decides to reform the teenager. During his reform process, Walt is unwillingly drawn into the life of Thaos family, and soon finds himself not only facing his own blinding prejudice head-on, but also protecting the family from the various gangs that swarm the neighbourhood.
